Add an international flavor to your summer.  Welcome a French student in your home for a month this summer.

I'm Dorothy Duncan. I have taken the challenge of matching French students with Columbus area families for this summer.

Each year, hundreds of American families volunteer to serve as host families, inviting foreign teens into their homes and lives.  Families host foreign students for a variety of reasons: the need to learn more about other cultures, the desire to give a student a chance to experience life in the USA and the reward of knowing that they have contributed to the growth and development of a young person.

The student discovers the USA in a unique way, from the most important unit of society, the family.  A far more enriching experience than the organized tour and hotel rooms.

Both the family and student realize that we all have the same basic desires and aspirations, viewpoints are widen and a relationship is built that will last for years.

If you are interested in LEC Paris homestay program and would like to become a host family send an email to: dduncan@urvalued.com or Click here to get more information.

Testimonials of American Families

"The student chosen for our family was a perfect match. We have made a very valuable friendship and have accepted her as a part of our family. My husband and I will be traveling to France later this year to visit Sophie and her family."

                    Mr. and Mrs. Miller
                      Waldoboro, ME

"It helped us see our country through someone else's eyes. Learning to communicate with someone of a different culture and language: a very rewarding experience for us all."

                         Mrs. Dvorak
                        Camden, NY

"He adjusted very well.  So well we felt him to be our 'son' and 'brother'. He was willing to participate in everything we did and to try everything that was put on the table. It was obvious that he was here to learn all he could."

                  Mr. & Mrs. Ferden
                     Atlanta, GA

"We learned from him and I do think he from us. We noticed his English had improved when he left, and Ricky's French got better."

            Mr. and Mrs. Rodrick
                       Tampa, FL

"We learned about another country, it's cultures, people and lifestyles despite the "initial" language differences- we know very few French words! And as we are normally a very home oriented family, we enjoyed an opportunity to show Pascale around our beautiful state of VA, DC, MD meanwhile learning more about our own country."

              Mr. and Mrs. Estes
               Round Hill, VA

"We experienced a different culture through Bruno. The children asked a thousand questions. They noticed differences; ic, the way he set the table, obviously language, etc. It gave them the opportunity to taste France right here at home, when France is mentioned on T.V. or elsewhere our youngest says, 'That's where Bruno lives, he's my big brother'."

      Mr. and Mrs. Fastnaught
                      Lincoln, VA
